Ms Mahlangu is perseverance personified. She is a living proof that achieving your goals is not always smooth sailing. More often than not, those who history best remembers were faced with numerous obstacles that forced them to work harder and show more determination than others. According to her, perseverance is giving up so much that giving up is not an option. And as the Japanese say, “fall down seven times, stand up eight”.
Lebogang, as she is fondly addressed by her first name, completed her National Certificate in Marketing Management at Tshwane North College in 2005 was also nominated in the Top 5 for Miss Pretoria College . In 2004, while still enrolled with Tshwane North College, she was appointed as a Sales and Marketing Consultant at Absa bank. She had to juggle classes and work obligations requiring more than 50 hours a week away from home. And there were times when she was truly overwhelmed and tempted to quit college. However, her steadfast subscription to the principle that ‘winners are not quitters’ fueled her to go the extra mile. Even though it was sometimes a bit bitter, today the fruits are far sweeter.
Ms Mahlangu credits God for her personal and professional success. If her life story had a soundtrack, it would be: “I don’t believe He got me this far to leave me…” She not only studied hard, she also prayed as much.
Tshwane North College laid a firm foundation upon which her success story is built. After completing her course, her horizons broadened and she started moving up the corporate ladder. Being a life-long learner, she went further to study Strategic Management at Milpark. Last year, Lebogang travelled to Kenya, Nairobi where she completed her Senior Certificate in Housing Asset Finance at Kenya School of Monetary Studies.
In 2005, Ms Mahlangu was awarded a certificate by Absa Retail for: Most Dedicated Sales Consultant. In 2007, she was promoted to a Business Development Consultant for Absa Home Loans and was later recognized and awarded: Best Supporter for 2009 by Absa external business partners Mortgage Alliance & Mortgage Max group
With seven impressive years of progressive experience in Business Development, she was appointed as one of the youngest Business Development Manager at Absa Home Loans; a position she holds to this day.
