Phetolo Sindane Wins R100,000 at the National Allan Gray Entrepreneurship Competition

Tshwane North TVET College proudly celebrates the exceptional achievement of Ms. Phetolo Sindane, who has been crowned a national winner at the 2026 Allan Gray Inter-College Entrepreneurship Competition, hosted in partnership with Inspire. Her outstanding performance earned her a combined R100,000 in seed funding, marking a significant milestone for both her entrepreneurial journey and the College’s growing innovation ecosystem.
 

Ms. Sindane secured first place in the National Business Idea Category, receiving R50,000 for presenting a compelling and high-potential business idea. Her exceptional business idea, prototype gadgets, and presentation skills further distinguished her as a joint winner of the Overall Best Business Award, adding another R50,000 to her winnings. This brings her total national prize to R100,000.

Her journey to national success began at the Tshwane North TVET College Internal Round, held at the Pretoria Campus on 6 August 2026, where she was selected as one of eight top-performing students to represent the College at the Gauteng Regional Round hosted by WestCol College on 14 August 2026. After winning the Regional Business Idea Category, she advanced to the National Round, proudly representing both Tshwane North TVET College and the Gauteng Province.

Ms. Sindane’s achievement highlights the importance of the transformative impact of providing students with platforms to refine their entrepreneurial capabilities, translate innovative ideas into viable business ventures and explore entrepreneurship as a meaningful career pathway. Her success also highlights the importance of sustained mentorship, coaching, training and institutional support in preparing young entrepreneurs to compete confidently at national level.

The Tshwane North TVET College Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEI) played a pivotal role in her development, offering pitch-readiness sessions, business consultations and targeted mentorship. This support equipped her with the skills to articulate her business idea with confidence and respond effectively during adjudication.

This accomplishment stands as a proud moment for both Ms. Phetolo Sindane and Tshwane North TVET College. It reflects the creativity, resilience and entrepreneurial potential that thrive within the TVET sector and reaffirms the College’s commitment to nurturing future innovators.
